Hedgehogs and guinea pigs should not be housed together. Hedgehogs are solitary animals and can become aggressive towards other small animals, including guinea pigs. Additionally, hedgehogs have different dietary and environmental needs compared to guinea pigs, so it is best to keep them in separate enclosures to ensure their well-being. It is important to provide each animal with the appropriate care and living conditions to keep them healthy and happy. **

African pygmy hedgehogs have an average lifespan of 3-5 years in the wild, but they can live up to 7 years in captivity with proper care. Providing a balanced diet, a clean and spacious living environment, and regular veterinary check-ups can help ensure a longer and healthier life for these small mammals. It's important to note that individual hedgehogs may have different lifespans based on their genetics, environment, and overall health. **

Yes, hedgehogs can enter a state of torpor, which is similar to hibernation, during the winter months. In this state, their body temperature drops, and their metabolism slows down to conserve energy. While they are in torpor, they may appear to be frozen or immobile, but they are still alive. It is important to provide a safe and warm environment for hedgehogs during the winter to prevent them from entering torpor in unsuitable conditions. **

Yes, hedgehogs can jump, but they are not known for their jumping abilities. They are more likely to curl up into a ball for protection rather than jump to escape from predators. However, they are capable of small jumps and can navigate obstacles by hopping over them. Overall, while hedgehogs can jump, it is not a prominent feature of their behavior. **

Hedgehogs are lactose intolerant, so it is not recommended to give them milk. Milk can cause digestive issues such as diarrhea and stomach upset in hedgehogs. It is best to stick to providing fresh water for hedgehogs to drink. **

Hedgehogs are omnivores, which means they eat a variety of foods. In the wild, their diet consists of insects, worms, snails, and other small invertebrates. They also eat fruits, vegetables, and some plant matter. In captivity, pet hedgehogs are typically fed a diet of high-quality commercial hedgehog food supplemented with fruits, vegetables, and the occasional insect as a treat. **

No, squirrels do not typically eat hedgehogs. Squirrels are omnivores and their diet consists mainly of nuts, seeds, fruits, and insects. Hedgehogs, on the other hand, are insectivores and primarily eat insects, worms, and other small invertebrates. It is unlikely for a squirrel to prey on a hedgehog as they have different dietary preferences and behaviors. **

Hedgehogs are omnivores and can eat a variety of foods including insects, fruits, vegetables, and small amounts of meat. In the wild, they primarily eat insects such as beetles, caterpillars, and worms, as well as some plant matter. In captivity, they can be fed a diet of high-quality cat food, cooked lean meats, fruits like apples and bananas, and vegetables such as carrots and peas. It's important to avoid feeding them dairy, sugary, or high-fat foods, as these can be harmful to their health. **
